A file limit, checked against the result
A quality slider does not specify a file size. This tool tries multiple encoder quality settings and checks each result's byte count. A successful output is at or below the limit you entered; it is not padded to an exact size. KB means 1,000 bytes and MB means 1,000,000 bytes here.
Control the tradeoff between detail and dimensions
The tool fits the image inside your maximum width and height without stretching or enlarging it. It first adjusts quality. If you allow smaller dimensions, it can also shrink the image to reach the byte limit. A small output can lose detail, so inspect fine text, faces and edges before downloading. If dimensions must stay fixed, disable further shrinking and check the reported result.
Choose the right format
JPG is a common choice for photos and forms, but transparent pixels become white. WebP keeps existing transparency, although your destination may not accept it. Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make a photo smaller than 100 KB or 200 KB?
Choose a preset or enter your own maximum. The tool only offers a successful result when its actual bytes fit that limit. It may need to reduce dimensions if you allow it, and some targets cannot be reached with your chosen constraints.
Does it make the file exactly the size I enter?
No. It aims at or below a maximum, which is what upload limits usually require. It does not add unnecessary bytes to make the size exact.
Will it keep the same width and height?
Set maximum dimensions to the original dimensions and disable the option to reduce them further. If the limit cannot be met with those settings, the tool reports an error instead of presenting an oversized result as a success.
Can I prepare a HEIC photo?
Convert HEIC to JPG first, then choose that JPG here. This tool directly accepts JPG, PNG and WebP images.
Is this guaranteed to satisfy an application form?
Only the selected byte limit is checked. Forms may also require minimum dimensions, a specific format, an aspect ratio or particular image content. Check those separately before submitting.
