Select an image to reveal the output buttons. PNG is the default. Use JPG for an opaque photograph, PNG for graphics that need transparency, or WEBP when the destination accepts it. AVIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO and GIF are also listed; compatibility depends on the input and processing path.
Transparency and image quality
JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent areas become white in the JPG conversion path. PNG and WEBP can retain existing transparency, but converting a JPG to PNG does not remove its background. Lossy encoding may change detail; converting to a lossless format does not recover detail already lost.
Where your image is processed
Supported combinations try conversion in your browser first. If local processing is unavailable or fails, the file is uploaded for server conversion. Some output formats require the server. Large pixel dimensions can exceed device memory even when the file is below the 1GB upload limit.
Check more than the extension
Open the download and verify dimensions, orientation and transparency. Do not assume animation, every page of a TIFF, embedded metadata or a color profile will be preserved. Keep the original when those features matter. For an upload with a strict size limit, use an image preparation tool after conversion.

Why does a JPG have a white background?
JPG does not support transparency. Choose PNG or WEBP if the source has transparency you need to keep.
Does GIF output preserve an animation?
Do not rely on this image converter to preserve animation. The browser path renders a still image. Keep the animated original and check the download before using it.
Why did the output get larger?
Compression differs by format and image content. A JPG saved as PNG can grow substantially without gaining detail. Choose based on what the destination accepts and compare the actual result.
