About Video Trimmer
Why trim videos online?
Not everyone has Final Cut or Premiere installed. Sometimes you just need to cut the first 10 seconds off a screen recording, clip a highlight from a longer video, or trim dead air from the beginning and end of a presentation. A browser-based trimmer handles these quick edits without heavyweight software — upload, set your points, download.
How it works
Upload your video, use the visual timeline to drag start and end points, or type exact timestamps for precision. Preview your selection before processing. The trim uses FFmpeg's stream copy mode, which means the video isn't re-encoded — it's cut at the exact points without any quality loss and processes in seconds.
Formats and quality
The trimmer supports MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI, and MKV input. Output defaults to the same format as input to avoid re-encoding. Since we use stream copy (not re-encoding), the output quality is identical to the original — no generation loss, no compression artifacts, just a shorter file.
Common uses for Video Trimmer
- Cutting the intro and outro from a screen recording before sharing
- Clipping a highlight moment from a longer video for social media
- Trimming dead air from the beginning and end of a presentation recording
- Extracting a specific scene from a downloaded video
- Cutting a video to meet platform length limits (Instagram Reels 90s, TikTok 10min)
Frequently Asked Questions
Does trimming reduce video quality?
No. We use FFmpeg's stream copy mode which cuts the video without re-encoding. The output is bit-for-bit identical quality to the original, just shorter. No generation loss occurs.
Can I trim to exact milliseconds?
Yes. Use the manual time input fields to specify exact start and end times down to the second (HH:MM:SS format). The visual timeline handles approximate positioning, and the input fields handle precision.
What's the maximum video length I can trim?
There's no length limit. The file size limit is 100MB on the free plan (1GB on Pro, 5GB on Business). A 100MB MP4 is typically 10-30 minutes of 1080p video depending on bitrate.
Can I trim multiple sections from one video?
Currently the tool supports a single trim — one start point to one end point. For extracting multiple clips from a longer video, you'd need to trim each section separately.
